Grace the Besenji

Pet Portraits in Watercolor are very challenging. My main objective is to capture the personality of the pet. Without knowing the pet, I can only go by my gut instinct of what I see in the photo. So the best way to take a photo of your pet is down it his/her level. Try to capture the pet's personality. Try to get that glimmer in their eye. Its always better to have strong shadows. This will make the pet portrait more dynamic. So its ok to take the picture of your pet out in the sun in the morning or the evening when the sun is not directly overhead. The clearer the photo the better I can see the little nuances of your pet. I just finished this one of Grace who is a Besenji. She is the alpha dog in her pack of 6 others and you can tell how alert she is.
